1/3 of The Spice & Tea Exchange’s® retainer hours were spent designing 20+ emails per month for their email marketing list. I worked directly with their in-house creative team to design, edit, and export formatted images for their marketing coordinator to publish through their email client, Dot Digital.
A project I’m most proud of is the solution I developed to reformat their static email template to be ADA accessible and responsive for desktop and mobile. The biggest roadblock was finding a solution that would allow stakeholders at all organizational levels to continue proofing this large volume of work through their task management website, Teamwork.com. The end goal was to upload content to the email client after stakeholders had provided their edits and approved the design. It was also important that their emails retain the same level of visual interest that the previous workflow allowed.
The Spice & Tea Exchange® gave me access to their email client, Dot Digital, and I worked closely with their customer service team to explore solutions. Ultimately, the new template retained a jpg hero image with alt text to retain campaign visuals above the fold, and all product features contained images with alt text with live text for product names and descriptions.
To achieve the goal of proofing via the task management website, I created a template in Adobe InDesign that mirrored the template I designed in Dot Digital. My team exported all emails from InDesign as a PDF, proofed with stakeholders on teamwork.com, and exported spliced jpgs with detailed naming conventions for The Spice & Tea Exchange’s® marketing coordinator. As Art Director, I also received a draft from Dot Digital to review all emails before publishing.
